Product Specific Information

  • Antibody is stable for 24 months.
  • Positive Control: Breast, Prostate or Colon Carcinoma
  • Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic, Cell Surface and Nuclear
  • Specificity Comments:
The RET proto-oncogene is structurally related to tyrosine kinase transmembrane receptors and is involved in GDNF signaling. RET expression is reported in several regions of the central nervous system, including developing cranial nerve ganglia, dorsal root ganglia subsets, motor neurons in spinal cord and hindbrain, neuro-retina, and renal collecting duct tips in developing kidney.
Alterations in the RET gene are associated with diseases such as papillary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia (type 2A and 2B), familial medullary thyroid carcinoma, and Hirschsprung’s disease.

Target Information

The receptor tyrosine kinase RET is a member of the cadherin superfamily and plays a crucial role in neural crest development. RET can undergo oncogenic activation via cytogenetic rearrangement and transduces signals for cell growth and differentiation.
Mutations in the RET gene are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia (type IIA and IIB), Hirschsprung disease, and medullary thyroid carcinoma. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found, with additional variants of uncertain biological validity.
