Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MAPK3.
Target Information
MAPKAPK3 functions as an integrative element of signaling in both mitogen and stress responses. It acts as a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAP kinase)-activated protein kinase. MAP kinases, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), integrate multiple biochemical signals.
MAPKAPK3 is activated by growth inducers and stress stimulation of cells. In vitro studies have shown that ERK, p38 MAP kinase, and Jun N-terminal kinase can phosphorylate and activate this kinase, suggesting its role in both mitogen and stress response signaling.
MAPKAPK3 also interacts with, phosphorylates, and represses the activity of E47, a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor involved in tissue-specific gene expression and cell differentiation.
