This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and screened to select optimal clones for production.

Target Information

MUC1 (Mucin 1, Episialin, MAM-6, CA 15-3, PEM, EMA) is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages.
It is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a large mucin-like extracellular domain that undergoes proteolysis and extensive O-linked glycosylation. MUC1 is highly polymorphic, with alleles encoding between 30 and 90 tandem repeats, leading to variable molecular weights.

MUC1 is abundantly expressed in more than 90% of breast carcinomas and metastases. It has been shown to associate with all four erbB receptors and localize with EGFR in lactating glands.
The MUC1 gene contains seven exons and produces several alternatively spliced variants. Overexpression, aberrant localization, and altered glycosylation of MUC1 are associated with carcinomas.
