CYP51A1 (cytochrome P450, family 51, subfamily A, polypeptide 1)은 LDM (lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase) 또는 cytochrome P450-14DM으로도 알려져 있으며, 503개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로 소포체 막에 위치합니다.
CYP51A1은 지모스테롤 및 스테로이드 생합성에 중요한 효소로, lanosterol의 C14 탈메틸화를 촉매하여 lanosterol을 4,4'-dimethyl cholesta-8,14,24-triene-3-beta-ol로 변환합니다.
본 효소는 간, 난소, 고환, 폐, 신장 및 전립선에서 높은 수준으로 발현됩니다.
