Product Specific Information
MA1-06814 detects reticulon-1A (NSP-A) and reticulon-1B (NSP-B) in human, rabbit, and non-human primate cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blotting, immunocytochemistry, FACS, and immunohistochemistry (paraffin) procedures.
In Western blot, it detects a ~135 kDa band representing reticulon-1A and a ~45 kDa band representing reticulon-1B.
The immunogen is derived from the small cell lung cancer cell line NCI-H82.
Target Information
Reticulon-1 (formerly NSP, Neuroendocrine-Specific Protein) is specifically expressed in neural and neuroendocrine tissues.
The NSP gene is located on human chromosome 14q21–q22 and encodes three overlapping proteins: reticulon-1A (NSP-A), reticulon-1B (NSP-B), and reticulon-1C (NSP-C).
These proteins are anchored to endoplasmic reticulum membranes via their common C-terminal regions.
- Reticulon-1A: ~135 kDa, occurs in various isoforms depending on serine phosphorylation; a reliable marker for neuroendocrine differentiation in lung cancer diagnosis.
- Reticulon-1B: ~45 kDa phosphoprotein, restricted to the lung cancer cell line NCI-H82; not found in human tissues.
- Reticulon-1C: ~23 kDa, non-phosphorylated; found with Reticulon-1A in small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) cell lines, not in non-SCLC cultures.
