VPS18는 세포 내 분자들을 개별 소기관으로 분류하는 데 중요한 역할을 하는 소포 매개 단백질입니다. 효모에서 수행된 유전학적 연구를 통해 소포를 액포로 운반하는 데 관여하는 40개 이상의 VPS 유전자가 확인되었습니다. VPS18은 효모 class C Vps18 단백질의 인간 상동체를 암호화하며, 주로 후기 엔도좀/리소좀에 존재하여 엔도좀/리소좀 경로에서 소포 수송 단계를 매개할 수 있습니다.
