EPHB3는 ephrin receptor family에 속하는 수용체 티로신 키나아제로, 신경계 발달, 혈관신생, 그리고 신경 시냅스 형성과 성숙 등 다양한 생물학적 과정에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Eph 수용체와 ephrin 리간드는 생체 내에서 상호 보완적으로 발현되며, 발달기 및 성체 신경 조직에서 거의 모든 Eph 수용체와 ephrin 리간드가 발현됩니다. Ephs와 ephrins는 특히 혈관신생 과정에서 중요한 기능을 수행합니다.
