Mouse anti-Bovine CD63 antibody, clone CC25 recognizes the bovine homologue of human CD63, a 237 amino acid multipass transmembrane glycoprotein and member of the tetraspanin TM4SF protein family, with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 26 kDa.

Target Information

CD63 (LAMP-3, lysosome-associated membrane protein-3) is a glycoprotein of the tetraspanin family present in late endosomes, lysosomes, and secretory vesicles of various cell types. It is also found on the plasma membrane following cell activation and is widely used as a basophil activation marker.
CD63 interacts with integrins, influences phagocytosis and cell migration, and is involved in H/K-ATPase trafficking and ROMK1 channel regulation. It also functions as a T-cell co-stimulation molecule.
Expression of CD63 can be used as a prognostic marker in early-stage carcinomas. It is expressed on activated platelets, monocytes, and macrophages, and weakly on granulocytes, B, and T cells. CD63 is identical to melanoma-associated antigen ME491 and platelet antigen PTLGP40.
Diseases associated with CD63 dysfunction include melanoma and Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome.
