Product Specific Information
This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
MYH (mutY homolog (E. coli)) is a DNA glycosylase mismatch repair enzyme that, in conjunction with mutM (OGG1), cleaves adenine residues paired with oxidized (8-hydroxyguanine) or non-modified guanine to correct A/G and A/C mismatches.
DNA glycosylases initiate repair by cleaving N-glycosyl bonds to start base excision repair. MYH is crucial for avoiding mutations from oxidative DNA damage. Multiple N-terminal splice variants exist in mammalian cells. Elevated MYH levels in A549 cells exposed to oxygen and infrared radiation improve cell survival.
Biallelic MYH germ-line mutations predispose humans to colorectal adenomas and carcinomas. MYH is abundant in neurons, maintaining mitochondrial genome integrity against reactive oxygen species (ROS).
