Target Information
Estrogen-related receptor alpha 1 (ERRα, ERR1) is an orphan nuclear hormone receptor. Members of the ERR family share a highly conserved DNA-binding domain with 68% amino acid identity to the estrogen receptor. ERRα binds to the ERRα response element (ERRE, 5′-tnaaggtca-3′) and may regulate the medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD) promoter. ERR1 functions as a metabolic regulator and is predominantly expressed in tissues that metabolize fatty acids. The corresponding gene is NR3B1.
