Target Information

H3 Histamine Receptor regulates the release of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and somatostatin.
In histamine-containing neurons of the brain, it acts as a presynaptic autoreceptor, while in nonhistamine-containing neurons, both in the central and peripheral nervous systems, it acts as a presynaptic heteroreceptor.
Multiple isoforms are produced by alternative splicing. The receptor is primarily expressed in brain tissues, with ESTs isolated from brain, breast cancer, colon cancer, and retinoblastoma libraries.
