Target Information
HOXC9 belongs to the homeobox family, a highly conserved group of transcription factors essential for morphogenesis in multicellular organisms. Mammals possess four similar homeobox gene clusters—HOXA, HOXB, HOXC, and HOXD—located on different chromosomes. Each cluster consists of 9 to 11 genes arranged in tandem. HOXC9 is one of several homeobox HOXC genes located on chromosome 12.
