Suggested positive controls include HeLa whole cell lysate, antigen standard for CASP7 (transient overexpression lysate), HeLa and Jurkat whole cell extracts, and Jurkat whole cell lysate.
Target Information
Caspase 7 belongs to a family of cysteine proteases divided into apoptotic and inflammatory subfamilies. Apoptotic caspases are involved in cell death, while inflammatory caspases are related to immune responses. Caspase 7 acts as an executioner caspase activated by initiator caspases, leading to cleavage of cellular substrates during apoptosis. It shares homology with caspases 1 and 3 and the C. elegans protein CED-3. Alternative splicing produces three isoforms of Caspase 7, and its activity can be inhibited by XIAP expression. Diseases associated with CASP7 include Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus 17 and Aleutian Mink Disease.
