Product Specific Information
- Predicted to react with Xenopus and zebrafish based on 100% sequence homology.
- Specific for ~42k - 44k ERK/MAPK phosphorylated at Thr202 and Tyr204.
- Immunolabeling is blocked by the phosphopeptide used as antigen but not by the corresponding dephosphopeptide.
- Immunolabeling is completely eliminated by lambda-phosphatase treatment.
Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed kinases involved in the regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells.
Activation occurs through multiple stimuli such as growth factors, cytokines, viral infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands.
Upon activation, Ras interacts with Raf, leading to phosphorylation of MEK1/2, which subsequently phosphorylates ERK1/2.
Activated ERKs phosphorylate cytoplasmic targets or translocate to the nucleus to activate transcription factors such as c-Fos and Elk-1.
