Antibody detects endogenous levels of p70 S6 Kinase only when phosphorylated at Serine 371.
Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. p70 S6 kinase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays an essential role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, cell motility pathways such as metastasis, immune response, and tissue repair. It acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, and its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which contributes to the upregulation of protein synthesis. Increased kinase activity of p70 S6 kinase promotes protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification and overexpression of this gene have been observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
