Target Information
Staufen homolog 2 (STAU2) is a member of the double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding protein family involved in mRNA transport and localization to various subcellular compartments. It contains multiple dsRNA-binding domains essential for binding RNAs with double-stranded secondary structures. STAU2 shares 48.5% and 59.9% similarity with Drosophila and human staufen, respectively. Although its precise function remains unclear, it is likely involved in RNA-binding events. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
