Product Specific Information

The 90 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD38 molecule (~42 kDa type II transmembrane protein). CD38 is expressed at increasing levels during B-cell differentiation and down-regulated in germinal center B cells and plasma cells. It is also found on subsets of thymocytes, mature T cells, and NK cells. Crosslinking CD38 induces B-cell proliferation, enhanced by IL-4 and LPS. CD38 acts as a counter-receptor for CD31 and functions as an ectoenzyme with cyclase and hydrolase activity, playing a role in lymphocyte activation and differentiation.

Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes at ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimal titration recommended.

Target Information

CD38 (NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein involved in activation, proliferation, and differentiation of lymphocytes, and apoptosis of progenitor cells. It functions as a multi-catalytic ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase, NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) and as a receptor. CD38 antibodies are useful for subtyping lymphomas/leukemias, detecting plasma cells (e.g., myeloma), and identifying activated B/T cells. CD38 is expressed in pancreas, liver, kidney, lymphoma, and neuroblastoma. Dysregulation is linked to chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Richter’s Syndrome.
