Target Information
Cardiac muscle myosin is a hexamer consisting of two heavy chain subunits, two light chain subunits, and two regulatory subunits.
The MYH6 gene encodes the alpha heavy chain subunit of cardiac myosin, located approximately 4 kb downstream of the beta heavy chain gene.
Mutations in this gene are associated with familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and atrial septal defect 3.
