Target Information
6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (PGD) is the second dehydrogenase in the pentose phosphate pathway. Deficiency of this enzyme is generally asymptomatic and inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. Hemolysis may occur when combined deficiency of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase and 6-phosphogluconolactonase is present, suggesting synergistic enzymopathy.
