SGSH는 lysosomal degradation of heparan sulfate에 관여하는 여러 효소 중 하나입니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 Sanfilippo syndrome A (mucopolysaccaridosis III의 한 형태)와 관련이 있으며, heparan sulfate의 분해 장애를 유발합니다.
다양한 크기의 전사체가 보고되었으나 생물학적 유효성은 확립되지 않았습니다.
