Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).


Target Information

IkB-alpha is a 40 kDa protein that inhibits NF-κB activity through protein-protein interactions with NF-κB dimers in the cytosol. This interaction masks the nuclear localization sequence of NF-κB, preventing its translocation to the nucleus.
Activation of NF-κB occurs when IkB-alpha is degraded in response to stimuli such as TNF-α, IL-1β, chemokines, PMA, growth factors, LPS, UV irradiation, viral infection, and various stresses.
In humans, the NFKBIA gene is located on chromosome 14q. Phosphorylation of IkB-alpha by IKKα on serine residues 32 and 36 triggers its degradation, enabling NF-κB activation. The IKK complex, composed of IKKα, IKKβ, and IKKγ, plays a critical role in this process.
NF-κB activation is further regulated by NF-κB inducing kinase (NIK), which stimulates IKKα activity in response to TNF and IL-1 signaling.
