Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117, also known as c-Kit receptor, Steel factor receptor, and stem cell factor receptor. This 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor is expressed on most hematopoietic progenitor cells in mouse bone marrow, as well as on mast cells. The c-Kit and steel factor interaction promotes proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells and is involved in mast cell activation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometry of mouse bone marrow cells at ≤0.125 µg/test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody that stains a cell sample in 100 µL final volume. Cell number may vary (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene and a type 3 transmembrane receptor for mast cell growth factor (stem cell factor). It regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. Mutations in KIT are linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, AML, and piebaldism. c-Kit is expressed in hematopoietic stem cells, germ cells, mast cells, and interstitial cells of Cajal. Upon ligand binding, c-Kit dimerizes and autophosphorylates, activating downstream pathways such as Ras/ERK, PI3K, PLC-γ, and JAK/STAT, essential for hematopoiesis and stem cell maintenance.
