Target Information

LC3B (Autophagy Marker Light Chain 3B, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3 B) is encoded by the human gene MAP1LC3B (Microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3B).
LC3B is associated with microtubule assembly and plays an important role in neurogenesis and autophagy—the process of cytoplasmic component degradation.
Three human LC3 isoforms undergo post-translational modifications during autophagy. Macroautophagy, the main inducible pathway for cytoplasmic turnover, involves the formation of double-membrane autophagosomes that fuse with lysosomes for degradation.
LC3B mediates interactions between microtubules and cytoskeletal components, and is implicated in cancer, aging, metabolic, neurodegenerative, and cardiovascular/pulmonary diseases.
