Target Information
cGAS (Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase) is a nucleotidyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) from ATP and GTP, playing a key role in innate immunity. It binds cytosolic DNA directly, leading to activation and synthesis of cGAMP, which subsequently activates TMEM173/STING to trigger type-I interferon production. cGAS is involved in innate immune sensing of infection, detection of bacterial DNA, response to cellular stress, DNA damage, and regulation of cellular senescence.
