Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif.
F-box proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, which mediates phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are classified into:

• Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
• Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
• Fbxs: containing other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

The FBXW8 protein belongs to the Fbw class and contains both an F-box motif and a WD-40 domain.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
