Product Specific Information

For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It is involved in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane. Vimentin expression occurs alongside desmin during early cellular development and is later replaced by tissue-specific intermediate filament proteins. It plays a role in steroid synthesis by serving as a storage network for cholesterol-containing lipid droplets. Phosphorylation by protein kinase leads to filament breakdown and cytoskeletal reorganization, facilitating cholesterol transport to mitochondria and enhancing steroid synthesis.
