Product Specific Information
The eB-h209 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD209 (DC-SIGN), a 44 kDa type II transmembrane protein. DC-SIGN contains a C-type lectin binding domain and binds ICAM-3, ICAM-2, and HIV virus. It is expressed on human dendritic cells and may function as a receptor for HIV capture and transmission to T cells.
- Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
- Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on cultured human dendritic and peripheral blood cells
- Recommended Use: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (in 100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)
- Excitation: 488 nm
- Emission: 520 nm
- Laser: Blue Laser
- Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered
Target Information
The CD209 gene encodes a transmembrane receptor known as DC-SIGN, expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. It plays a role in innate immunity by recognizing a wide range of pathogens including parasites and viruses. The protein has three domains: a transmembrane domain, a tandem-repeat neck domain, and a C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain.
The extracellular region functions as both a pathogen recognition receptor and a cell adhesion receptor. The neck region mediates homo-oligomerization, enhancing multivalent ligand binding. Variations in the neck domain affect ligand affinity. CD209 is closely related to L-SIGN (GeneID 10332), differing in ligand-binding and expression patterns. Alternative splicing produces multiple variants.
