Product Specific Information

The MG38 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD205 (DEC-205), an integral membrane protein homologous to the macrophage mannose receptor. CD205 is an endocytic dendritic receptor that mediates efficient processing and presentation of antigens on MHC class II molecules in vivo. It is highly expressed by dendritic cells (DCs) within T cell areas of lymphoid tissues, particularly on CD8⁺ DCs involved in cross-priming.

Expression of CD205 is detected at high intensity on in vitro derived mature human DCs (mDC) and at intermediate intensity on immature DCs (iDC). All leukocytes from peripheral blood show some staining with this antibody, which can be minimized by using very low concentrations of MG38.

Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometry on in vitro derived human dendritic cells and peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤0.03 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Antibody should be titrated for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD205 (LY25, Lymphocyte Antigen 75) is an integral membrane glycoprotein involved in antigen uptake, trafficking, and presentation, enhancing antigen-specific T cell immunity. It is highly expressed by CD8⁺ dendritic cells and variably expressed in bone marrow Gr1⁺ cells, Langerhans cells, bone marrow-derived DCs (BMDC), and thymic epithelial cells. CD205 acts as an endocytic receptor directing captured antigens to specialized antigen processing regions and may reduce B lymphocyte proliferation. Dysfunction of CD205 is associated with pneumonic plague and lipid pneumonia.
