This antibody specifically recognizes an epitope encoded by exon v7 on the variant portion of human CD44.
Standard CD44 (CD44s) lacks the entire variable region and is mainly found in lymphohematopoietic cells.
Multiple isoforms (CD44v1–CD44v11) arise from alternatively spliced exons within the extracellular domain.

Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa cell surface glycoprotein broadly expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and certain epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
Several isoforms exist, including the predominant CD44H isoform in normal tissues.
CD44 serves as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration. It also participates in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing.
Up-regulation of CD44 expression has been observed in some carcinomas, potentially associated with metastatic potential.
