Target Information
Serum albumin is a globular, unglycosylated protein (~65 kDa) that constitutes the main protein in plasma. It binds water, fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin, and drugs, playing a key role in maintaining colloidal osmotic pressure in blood. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin, which undergoes sequential cleavage to form proalbumin and then the secreted form of albumin.
