This peptide corresponds to 16 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human ATF6.
PEP-0347 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20215.

Target Information

ATF6 is a transcription factor that acts during endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress by activating unfolded protein response (UPR) target genes. It binds DNA on the 5'-CCAC[GA]-3' half of the ER stress response element (ERSE) (5'-CCAAT-N(9)-CCAC[GA]-3') and ERSE II (5'-ATTGG-N-CCACG-3'). Binding to ERSE requires interaction with NF-Y. ATF6 may also participate in transcriptional activation with serum response factor (SRF). It can form homodimers and heterodimers with ATF6 beta and interacts with NF-Y subunit C (NF-YC), as well as transcription factors GTF2I, YY1, and SRF. Under ER stress, the cleaved N-terminal cytoplasmic domain translocates into the nucleus. The basic domain functions as a nuclear localization signal, while the basic leucine-zipper domain mediates association with NF-Y and DNA binding. During the UPR, a ~50 kDa cytoplasmic fragment containing the transcription factor domain is released by proteolysis, sequentially cleaved by site-1 and site-2 proteases. ATF6 is N-glycosylated, phosphorylated by MAPK14/P38MAPK, and belongs to the bZIP family.
