Target Information

EIF2AK4 (GCN2) is a metabolic-stress sensing protein kinase that phosphorylates the alpha subunit of eukaryotic translation initiation factor-2 (eIF2α) in response to low amino acid availability. It plays a key role in activating the integrated stress response necessary for adaptation to amino acid starvation. Mutations in this gene are associated with pulmonary veno-occlusive disease 2.
