This antibody detects endogenous levels of total ZAK protein.
Target Information
ZAK is a leucine zipper-containing mitogen-activated protein related to the MLKs in both sequence and function. Like the MLKs and other MAP3Ks, ZAK activates MAP2Ks.
ZAK belongs to the MAPKKK family of signal transduction molecules and encodes a protein with an N-terminal kinase catalytic domain, a leucine zipper motif, and a sterile-alpha motif.
This magnesium-binding protein forms homodimers and is located in the cytoplasm. It mediates gamma radiation signaling leading to cell cycle arrest and plays a role in cell cycle checkpoint regulation.
ZAK also exhibits pro-apoptotic activity. Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized.
