Target Information
Members of the human serpin family regulate diverse serine and cysteine proteinases involved in key biological processes such as fibrinolysis, coagulation, inflammation, cell mobility, differentiation, and apoptosis.
Most serpins are secreted and reach physiological levels in blood and extracellular fluids, while a subset (ov-serpins) resides intracellularly.
SERPINB13 (headpin) is a novel serpin underexpressed in squamous cell cancers of the oral cavity and is expressed in normal oral mucosa, skin, and cultured keratinocytes.
