TS는 항암제인 fluoropyrimidines 계열 약물(예: 5-FU)의 주요 표적 단백질로, 이들은 암세포 내에서 FdUMP로 전환되어 TS를 불활성화합니다. TS 단백질의 발현은 5-fluorouracil(5-FU)에 대한 반응성과 관련이 있으며, 대장암, 위암, 두경부암, 유방암 등에서 연구되고 있습니다.
