Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in various cellular processes involving RNA secondary structure alterations such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Some family members are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.
The DDX10 gene encodes a DEAD box protein involved in ribosome assembly. Fusion of DDX10 and NUP98 by chromosome inversion 11 (p15q22) is observed in patients with de novo or therapy-related myeloid malignancies.
