Peroxin 3 (PEX3, peroxisomal biogenesis factor 3, TRG18)는 373 아미노산으로 구성된 다중 막 관통 단백질로, Peroxin family에 속하며 퍼옥시좀에 위치합니다. PEX3는 Peroxin 19와 상호작용하여 퍼옥시좀 생합성과 막 소포 조립에 관여하며, 퍼옥시좀의 구조적 안정성을 유지하는 데 중요한 역할을 합니다. 또한 Peroxin 3는 Peroxin 19의 도킹 인자로 작용하며 퍼옥시좀 단백질의 수입에 필수적입니다.
PEX3 유전자의 결함은 peroxisome biogenesis disorder complementation group 12 (PBD-CG12) 및 Zellweger syndrome (ZwS)을 유발할 수 있습니다.
