Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of BAD only when phosphorylated at Ser75, which site was historically referenced as Ser112.
Target Information
The protein encoded by BAD is a member of the BCL-2 family, known regulators of programmed cell death. BAD promotes apoptosis by forming heterodimers with BCL-xL and BCL-2, counteracting their anti-apoptotic effects. The proapoptotic activity of BAD is regulated through phosphorylation by kinases such as AKT and MAP kinase, and dephosphorylation by calcineurin. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding the same isoform.
