Product Specific Information
- For IHC (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and can be released into serum as a soluble form. CD14 binds LPS via lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), contributing to immune recognition and neutralization of bacterial components. It also binds apoptotic cells and plays roles in allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform.
Diseases associated with CD14 dysfunction include Mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
