• Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
  Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein constitutively expressed on the surface of mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils.
It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor and exists both as a membrane-bound and soluble form.
CD14 binds LPS in a reaction catalyzed by lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), an acute-phase serum protein.
Soluble CD14 (sCD14) can discriminate structural differences between LPS molecules and plays a role in neutralizing serum endotoxins.
Additionally, CD14 binds apoptotic cells and influences allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same CD14 isoform.
Diseases associated with CD14 dysfunction include Mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
