For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The CD40 antigen is a single-chain glycoprotein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor/nerve growth factor superfamily. It shares significant homology with the Hodgkin’s disease-associated antigen CD30.
CD40 is expressed on all B cells except plasma cells and also found on epithelial cells, carcinomas, and lymphoid dendritic cells. It plays an essential role in immune and inflammatory responses such as:

• T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching
• Memory B cell development
• Germinal center formation

The transcription factor AKNA coordinates CD40 expression, facilitating homotypic cell interactions. TNFR2 adaptor protein mediates CD40 signal transduction.
CD40–CD40L interaction is required for amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, implicated in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
Diseases associated with CD40 dysfunction include:

• Type 3 Hyper-IgM immunodeficiency
• CD40 ligand deficiency
