Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cellular transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGFRA, depending on the bound ligand. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, and may be involved in the 5q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 is associated with chronic myeloproliferative disorders with eosinophilia.
