• In sandwich ELISAs, less than 0.1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human, mouse, and canine IL-1 beta is observed.
• Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells in response to inflammatory stimuli. It is synthesized as a 31 kDa inactive pro-form that accumulates in the cytosol. Activation of inflammasomes leads to cleavage by active caspase-1, generating the 17 kDa active form.
IL-1β lacks a classical signal peptide and is secreted through an alternative pathway. It signals via IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors, shared with IL-1α, and its activity is regulated by IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA).
IL-1β plays a crucial role in innate immune responses, promoting cytokine production and acute-phase reactions. Elevated IL-1β levels are linked to chronic inflammatory conditions, and IL-1β neutralizing antibodies have potential therapeutic applications.
