Target Information
The WNT gene family encodes secreted signaling proteins involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes such as regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis.
WNT6 is overexpressed in cervical cancer cell lines and coexpressed with WNT10A in colorectal cancer cells. Its overexpression may contribute to carcinogenesis.
WNT6 and WNT10A are clustered in the chromosome 2q35 region. The WNT6 protein shares 97% amino acid identity with the mouse Wnt6 protein.
