Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-κB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. NF-κB p65, also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), belongs to the Rel protein family. It forms one of the two subunits of NF-κB, which heterodimerizes with p50 or p52.
Binding of TNF-α to its receptor activates IKK, which phosphorylates IκB, leading to its proteasomal degradation. NF-κB p65 plays a crucial role in transcription of the immunoglobulin κ (kappa) gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
