MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase는 이중 특이성 단백질 인산화효소로서, 세포 성장과 분화를 조절하는 MAPK 신호전달 경로에서 중요한 역할을 합니다. 다양한 성장 인자와 사이토카인, 막 탈분극 및 칼슘 유입에 의해 활성화되며, Raf1에 의해 Ser218 및 Ser222 잔기의 인산화로 활성화됩니다. 스트레스 반응, 세포자멸사(apoptosis), 사이토카인에 의한 증식 유도 과정에 관여하며, 유전자 변이는 cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome과 연관될 수 있습니다.
