Target Information
This gene encodes a protein that binds to the C-terminus of adenovirus E1A proteins. This phosphoprotein acts as a transcriptional repressor and may play a role in cellular proliferation. CtBP1 and its closely related gene product, CtBP2, can dimerize and interact with polycomb group protein complexes involved in gene expression regulation during development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
