EPHA3는 단백질 티로신 키나아제 계열의 ephrin 수용체 하위군에 속하며, 특히 신경계에서 발생 과정에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
이 단백질은 ephrin-A 리간드와 결합하며, EPH 하위군의 수용체는 단일 키나아제 도메인과 Cys-풍부 영역 및 두 개의 fibronectin type III 반복을 포함하는 세포외 영역을 가집니다.
Ephrin 수용체는 세포외 도메인 서열의 유사성과 ephrin-A 및 ephrin-B 리간드에 대한 결합 친화도에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다. EPHA3는 ephrin-A 리간드와 결합합니다.
