Target Information
The WNT gene family consists of structurally related genes encoding secreted signaling proteins involved in oncogenesis and developmental processes, including regulation of cell fate and patterning during embryogenesis.
WNT6 is overexpressed in cervical cancer cell lines and coexpressed with WNT10A in colorectal cancer cells, suggesting a role in carcinogenesis.
WNT6 and WNT10A genes are clustered in the chromosome 2q35 region. The encoded protein shares 97% amino acid identity with mouse Wnt6.
