Target Information
CXCR2 is a receptor for interleukin-8 (IL-8), a potent neutrophil chemotactic factor and a member of the GPCR family. Binding of IL-8 activates neutrophils via a G-protein–mediated phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. This receptor binds IL-8, GRO/MGSA, and NAP-2 with high affinity and is expressed in a wide variety of tissues. ESTs have been identified from human placenta and thymus libraries.
